Profile
The Jacobean Singers, established in 1994, is an independent peripatetic choir specialising in the singing of church music. Although it is a choir in the English cathedral tradition, particularly in relation to repertoire, the Jacobean Singers has departed from the tradition in a number of significant ways. This is an inclusive choir, not a choir of boys and men, but one in which all the members of the family can, and in some cases do, sing together. The composition of the choir may help to explain its distinctive sound and the loyalty of its members, who are also proving themselves to be extraordinarily adaptable.

Although the choir is frequently asked to sing traditional Anglican services, it is receiving an increasing number of invitations from churches of other denominations and from secular organisations both in Sydney and elsewhere in the state.

The choir offers its services without fee for the performance of music within the liturgy. It derives some income from professional engagements such as recitals and weddings, but financial assistance for its activities is provided by a support group Friends of the Jacobean Singers.

The musical director of the Jacobean Singers is Walter Sutcliffe.
